The project

Modernising Heritage Accommodation for Residential Boarders

As part of Darcy Construction’s four-year development partnership with Farleigh School, our team delivered extensive internal refurbishments and structural modernisations to the school’s residential boarding house facilities.

The project required upgrading living quarters, bathroom amenities, communal student lounges, and circulation spaces, updating the historical building footprint to meet modern residential standards and strict safety requirements.

Project Scope & Key Features:

Residential Accommodation Refurbishment: Upgraded boarder bedrooms, communal social areas, study zones, and modern sanitary facilities.

Live Campus & Residential Safety: Executed works safely within a live school environment, maintaining strict access control, dust containment, and acoustic management during active term periods.

Phased Delivery Model: Works were carefully scheduled across holiday windows to ensure zero disruption to live boarding operations.

Heritage & Regulatory Compliance: Upgraded electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems to current compliance standards while preserving the architectural integrity of the school’s historic structure.

Director-Led Operations: Managed with direct board-level oversight and executed using a 90%+ local Hampshire supply chain.
